I missed what actually happened with the ghost lady and her baby. She had an illegitimate kid with the white married guy, but why couldn't she see it?
It really bothers me how they keep conflating Jessica's magical regrowing hymen with being a virgin.
I also wish this show would really dig in and deal with issues of doing really awful things and forgiveness (Eric, Debbie, Tommy) but they seem to love just ignoring it. It could be so good.

i'm willing to overlook that because a) that's how people tend to think of hymens anyway and b) in the context of the fight, hoyt was just trying to hurt her as much as possible. i mean, it bothers me but i also don't necessarily think the show is justifying it so much as it's just a realistic portrayal of actual opinions? it was still a completely awful comment though, especially when jessica really was trying to be mature about it. but, idk, i also can't be too mad at hoyt because it seems like he knows something's wrong but he doesn't know why because jessica fucking erased his memory. so he feels violated and uncomfortable around jessica but he can't explain it so when he finally gets the chance to lash out at her for a legitimate reason he takes it [too far].
right? this is easily the most morally grey season they've had so far but they just refuse to take it there. i just want them to acknowledge that antonia has a legitimate reason to be so damn angry instead of acting like she's this evil witch with this crazy plan to destroy all vampires HOW DARE SHE!!!!

In the context of the fight it's perfectly legit. The virginity thing just seems to be a persistent ish that every character is having and it bugs. I want them to do better even if it's not exactly realistic :/ And you are spot on about Hoyt.
