Leave a comment saying ":D" and I'll respond by asking you five questions to satisfy my curiosity. Update your journal with the answers to your questions. Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions. Tag backs are allowed. Watch out.
1. What is a ~life lesson~ you've learned in high school? Silly/serious as your heart desires.
ooh, I dunno. um I guess one thing I really learned this last year (and should work on following) is to make time for friends and to try things you wouldn't normally do.
2. What topics/majors/subjects are you interested in, going in to college?
ha. no idea. I have such broad interests and an unhealthy amount of curiosity that it's going to be hard to decide what to major in. I know for sure that I'm not interested in doing math, and probably not any sort of science (unless it's one of the "soft" sciences). for a while I was interested in getting a philosophy degree, but I've been turned off on that for a couple of different reasons.
actually, one of the reasons I was really interested in Quest was their Question program, where you don't choose a major (i.e. English, Biology, Anthropology, etc.) but instead come up with a "question" which you spend your four years trying to answer. some of their examples were specific, like "what are the child-rearing practices in traditional Western Africa, and how is that reflected in their myths?" and some were really broad, like "what is love?" I thought it was really interesting, and while Willamette ended up being better for me in a lot of ways, I think the idea of Quest would be perfect for me.
3. What is something that most internet people don't know about you? Something most RL people don't know?
I..don't know, really. um, internet people don't know that I can't roll my Rs? and most rl friends don't know about my involvement in fandom, because I don't have any rl friends who are interested in the same things that I are and I don't want to go on about things that only I care about lol.
4. Do you think there is an innate quality that differentiates "good" people from "bad" people (in quotation marks to accept or reject as you please). If so, what is it?
I think the main problem in the world is selfishness. I believe that most people are "good" but will do bad things out of ignorance and/or a sense of self-preservation that goes too far. and then eventually, when you've been really selfish for a long period of time, your senses get deadened and you stop caring about anyone else but yourself.
5. What is the funniest picture you have on your computer (new or old)? Where did it come from?
there's too much stuff on my old computer to pick just one, but on my new computer:

it came from some discussion on
ontd_feminism I'm pretty sure.
