ugh I am so fucking tired of seeing commercials for More To Love. I get genuinely angry when I see them because it's such utter bullshit.

if you haven't heard of it, it's about "one average man" and his search for a "real woman!" note that here "average" and "real" mean "big." the show is based around the premise that the average American woman is a size 14, while the average woman on a reality show is a size 2; ergo, the size 14 women should get their own show! and I am all for a wider representation of people in the popular media, so it doesn't really sound that bad, right?

here are my issues with it:

- skinny women aren't real women (but heavy/curvy women are)
- fat people can only be with other fat people (and skinny people can only be with other skinny people)
- reality dating shows are just harem fantasies anyway

again, it may not seem like much, but it really bothers me. yes, fat women are real women—and so are skinny women, and curvy women, and anorexic women, and athletic women, and women with big fake titties, and women who don't really have a defined body type. when I say "wider representation," I mean a show where there are skinny people, yes, and fat people as well, and everything in between, and I don't want it to be a bunch of thin people with the token fat chick. more than anything, I want these stupid shows off the air kthnx there to be a show where there's a lot of different types of people without it being OMG A BIG DEAL because really? that's reality. skinny people fall in love with fat people and fat people fall in love with skinny people, pretty people fall in love with ugly people and ugly people fall in love with pretty people, and that is not at all what I see on my television. just once I would like to see reality TV live up to its name and actually show life as it is and not as FOX (or ABC, or CBS, or any other channel) wants it to be.
